Why write about sex at almost 80?

CAROL REMZ, PhD

What would motivate an almost 80-year-old woman to write a book about the Best Sex Ever After Menopause?

At this time in the Zeitgeist when women are uniting and standing up for their human rights, Carol Remz is compelled to dispel the ugly and false narratives about women’s sexuality and power after menopause.

Menopause hit Carol in her mid-forties, bringing about a loss of libido and vaginal dryness over the next ten years. Her husband, seven years her junior, wouldn’t accept her declaration that sex wasn’t supposed to matter after menopause. And surviving two bouts of breast cancer lit her fire to live life to the fullest.

After she reclaimed her sexuality, her husband said, “Write a book. Tell your story about how you healed and changed.” Before she could raise any objections, he added, “Get help.” That came from medical and health writer and intimacy coach, Molly Carter.

Carol’s contribution to making a positive social impact comes from applying the experience and skills she acquired from her working career. What are they? Ten years as a teacher after receiving her BS in 1966 and MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) in 1967 from Cornell University. And for 35 years after receiving her PhD in Educational Technology from Catholic University, forming her own business that led her clients’ employees from Fortune 500 companies, federal and state agencies, private business, and non-profits to develop instructor-facilitated, video-based, and online training programs. From sales teams to health care providers, learning’s key goal was change for the better in what people do, achieve, and feel. It is the same goal for Best Sex Ever After Menopause: Through Mindset and Healing and Aphrodisiac Plants.

Carol’s book gives readers validated research and applicable knowledge and skills, structured into three parts. Part I: The brain is our most important sex organ; its role in our sexuality, health, and communication. Part II: Remedies for vaginal dryness and arousal, both pharmaceutical and natural. Part III: Molly’s expertise about body know-how and both of their experiences “in the flesh.” The hoped for outcome: sexual pleasure that’s arousing, sensual, erotic, orgasmic, ecstatic, transcendent, blissful, and transformational, with love as its foundation.

Carol defines “love” as a verb, excepting our vulnerabilities and others’ and connecting with the core good of our humanness: 36 states of “beingness” such as appreciation, caring, empowerment, forgiveness, gratitude, honesty, laughter, passion, trust, transformation.

Best Sex Ever After Menopause offers a new paradigm of senior sexual pleasure: like fine wine made from mature vines and cultivated with love. Definitely better with age!

“I LOVE this book! It is easy-to-read, potentially life-changing and lengthening, chock full of valuable tips offered in bite-sized pieces, and replete with links to take me deeper (which I look forward to doing during my second read through.) And then–and maybe before then–I am going to start practicing what Carol and Molly demonstrate through the ways they live their lives. Carol’s experience and Molly’s expertise blend beautifully with cited research and powerful storytelling that empowers the reader (me!) to take action that will re-ignite the passion that drew my husband and me to each other over 40 years ago.”
